The Relationship Pyramid

While trying to go to bed last night, in a rather beleaguered state of mind, I happened to overhear yelling from outside my window at around 2 a.m. Apparently a couple was publicly breaking up in front of Cleary last night, and yelling so loud, I could hear it in my 8th floor room! Awesome! Got to love Berkeley. The conversation seemed to end (at least for me, I might have fallen asleep) with the woman yelling You don't even know what love is, you bastard! We never had a real relationship! Although both of these people were clearly idiots (not only for breaking up so melodramatically, but also for doing so at 2 a.m. on the street), they got me thinking about how people define personal relationships.

Burn, Baby, Burn

I've been sitting here trying to express how I've been feeling for the past few days, and never have I been more utterly disgusted with the English language than I am now. You would think with all the thousands of esoteric words that make their way onto standardized exams, one of them could actually encapsulate my current state of mind. But I guess not.

Electoral Musings

Everyone who knows me, knows I'm not particularly politically active. I vote when there's an election, keep up with the national/international news, and have my opinions on most of the current issues, but I'm not conspicuously vocal about them. This is for many reasons, probably most important of which is that I think politics (and politicians) suck. It doesn't matter really where they stand on issues, or if they even do—they just suck. I suppose it's a necessary evil, although I am not sure about the necessary part. However, I'm neither qualified nor particularly interested in discussing the value (or lack thereof) of politicians. Instead, I wish to voice an opinion on this year's upcoming presidential election.

Truth and Astrology

Libra

I am usually not the kind of guy to put too much stock into astrology, although I admit that I can't completely discount it either. Anyway, in the course of trying to waste time, I idly clicked on some link in a friend's profile and came across the Alcohol Horoscope, which I think I had seen before, but am not really sure. Reading it again, though, made me stop and think about the accuracy of astrology—it was dead on!
