Alone and Lonely

I haven't written in my blog in a while. There is a reason for this. I have been busy with my life outside of the internet. Not busy as in "oh look at me, I have lots of friends and places to go to." Not really. More like, "oh, I have a lot of work and physical labor to do." Anyway, whatever it was - it prevented me from writing in my blog.

After returning to Ida Sproul from Irvine last Sunday (7/27), I spent the entire week just chilling with the remnants of CalSO that remained on, fighting the good fight, so to speak. Basically, it was just me and Donna, Farouk, and Garett, with Phil occasionally making an appearance, but not really. After they moved out, I was left alone for a day in Ida Sproul. It was awful. I don't know if any of you have ever experienced this, but being alone in a Residence Hall floor, all by yourself - it's gotta be one of the worst feelings in the world!

I wasn't alone too long, because the next day Roberto and Ifeanyi arrived, so atleast I wasn't all by myself in the dorms. We moved out on Saturday, which was very easy for me, and very not easy for everyone else! I'm just glad I didn't have to deal with the bullshit of moving in at other units. Sunday I unpacked all my stuff and spent about 2-3 hours setting up my electronic equipment - computers, stereo, speakers, etc. For some reason, I couldn't get my webserver to boot by itself. I couldn't understand it for the longest time - I would plug it into the outlet and plug in ethernet, but it wouldn't come on. So I would move it about ten feet to where my monitor was, and plug the keyboard, monitor, and other crap into it, boot it, and it would work. This went on about twice before I realized that the computer wasn't booting because there was no goddamn keyboard plugged in. And you know how I realized it? Not by the noisy beep that comes when this happens, like I should have. No! I realized this because when I powered down the computer, the next time it booted, it didn't fsck the hard drive, meaning it never booted the OS. Wow. I know that's really stupid. Again, I am not even going try to justify myself.

RA training started off yesterday, not with a bang, but with a whimper. We spent about 2-3 hours reviewing material from the spring semester class and doing "icebreakers," something I really never liked too much. I don't mind icebreakers when they actually allow you to get to know people, but when you do it with like 70 people, it's not breaking much ice, if you know what I mean! Two more weeks of training, then in come the freshman. As I was walking down my floor yesterday, I realized that in two weeks all those rooms are going to be filled with loud, possibly immature freshman and that I have to live here! What an astonishing thought. Living with freshman, when you're not one? Oh God! All I gotta say is my freshman year was pretty awesome - I don't wanna be living anyone else's bad one! Let's just hope that this doesn't become the case!
